AO/PI Double Staining Kit - 500T

The AO/PI Double Staining Kit is designed for the rapid detection of cell viability, allowing for clear distinction between normal, apoptotic, and necrotic cells. The kit utilizes two dyes: Acridine Orange (AO) and Propidium Iodide (PI). AO, which can penetrate intact cell membranes, stains viable cells green, while also highlighting condensed chromatin in apoptotic cells with brighter green fluorescence, a key indicator of apoptosis. PI, on the other hand, cannot cross intact cell membranes, thus only staining necrotic cells red due to membrane compromise. The combined staining enables easy identification of:

Normal cells: Green fluorescence

Apoptotic cells: Orange fluorescence (brighter due to chromatin condensation)

Necrotic cells: Red fluorescence (membrane integrity lost)

Components and Storage

Storage: Store the kit at -20°C for up to 1 year. AO and PI solutions should be kept protected from light. For frequent use, the kit may be stored at 4°C.
